Certificate II in Rural Operations


The educational and vocational outcomes of the course will be that graduates of the Certificate II in Rural Operations possess the life skill and the vocational skills relevant to the Horticulture Industry i.e. are able to undertake and complete work contracts in the Horticulture Industry in the location at which the training is undertaken.

The course is designed to allow Indigenous participant’s access to employment and training opportunities relevant to the Horticulture Industry. Where there is an established Horticulture Industry but no established Indigenous labour force the course will provide graduates with the underpinning eight employability skills of communication, team work, problem solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self management, learning and technology together with the key competencies determined by Industry.

The course will enable graduates to work towards becoming Indigenous micro enterprises in their own right.Graduates will be able to choose a pathway to self employment or working for others in the Horticulture Industry.

To achieve a Certificate II in Rural Operations a total of 17 units of competency must be completed.  This comprises 4 core units of competency plus 13 elective units of competency as detailed in the packaging rules and listed in the course information flyer.
